CENTER FOCUS
The Center for Workforce Development includes a research, education and training group allowing students and faculty the opportunity to collaborate on three major functions: research and development; education and training; and information and product dissemination.
The research and development focus of the Center will provide faculty and students with the opportunity to participate in theoretical and applied research focusing on the workforce and workplace. The Center coordinates the involvement of individual's research and development expertise with organizations needing assistance with issues affecting the nature of work.
The education and training focus of the Center is two fold: short courses can be tailored to the specific needs of an organization and graduate level courses can be designed for public and private sector employees. The Department of Workforce Education and Development has a distinguished tradition of work off-campus and currently offers a baccalaureate program of study on 16 military installations in 9 states and a graduate program offered in conjunction with the University of Technology in Kingston, Jamaica.
The information and product dissemination focus of the Center will incorporate the activity of a nationally recognized Illinois State Curriculum Center (ISCC) located in Springfield, Illinois. In a cooperative agreement with Lincoln Land Community College and the Illinois State Board of Education, the 50,000 volume career and technical library of the ISCC is located in the new Workforce Development Center on the Lincoln Land Community College campus. New research products and training materials will be disseminated through ISCC to local, state and national and international partners.
